The X1 Carbon is the lightest powered exoskeleton we've tested, and the best value in the lineup. A carbon-fibre frame brings it down to 1.6 kg, so it disappears on your hips within minutes, yet the motor still puts out 900 W of hip assist that flattens long climbs and keeps trail runners moving. It assists walking and running, the battery pops out for a spare, and it costs less than anything else with this much motor. The honest caveat: DNSYS's European service network is still building out, so buy this if you're happy to ship the odd return yourself.
What it does well.
A 1.6 kg carbon-fibre frame. Strap it on and you forget it's there.
900 W peak, 18-22 Nm per leg. Reads your gait and adapts the push per step.
Around 20 km of assist, a battery that pops out for a spare, and a fast USB-C top-up.
See it on the trail.
The numbers, with context.
Manufacturer figures, verified in our 60-hour test cycle. Range numbers assume continuous max-assist on a 10% grade. Most riders see longer in mixed use.
